On the 15th express entry draw of 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent 4300 ITAs which has a decrease of 500 invitations from the last last express entry draw. This time, a candidate with the lowest score of 486 will receive an ITA on his IRCC secure account and over email.

What is a category-based express entry system?

From November 29, 2022, to January 16, 2023, there was a public consultation organized by the Canadian immigration department to make improvements in the Express Entry system which will focus on specific economic goals. Governmental employees of provinces and territories, members of industry, unions, employers, workers, worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organizations, and immigration researchers and practitioners were part of this conference.
On the basis of this conference, IRCC is implementing a new Express Entry candidate selection method to fulfill economic goals, which is known as the Category-based express entry system.

What are chosen Categories for express entry 2023?

On the basis of labor market requirements and high-priority vacancies provided by stakeholders and provinces and territories, IRCC has chosen the following categories for 2023:

  • 1. French-language proficiency
  • 2. Healthcare occupations
  • 3. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations
  • 4. Trade occupations
  • 5. Transport occupations
  • 6. Agriculture and agri-food occupations

How to get eligible for Category based express entry system?

C.R.S. score is a major factor for deciding whether an applicant would receive an I.T.A. or not, but there are more requirements that should be fulfilled by the applicant, such as:

  • Language Test Results on a specific official language (English or French).
  • Should have minimum required work experience in a specific occupation. (follow N.O.C. 2021 version 1.0).
  • Educational Credential Assessment(E.C.A.) report
  • Applicants must meet the minimum entry criteria (M.E.C.) for express entry.

Conclusion:

On the #251 express entry draw, the Canadian immigration department sent 4,300 invitations to apply for new immigrants. Canada has invited 56,200 Express Entry candidates through the Express Entry program, including Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Class, and Skilled Trade Class until the latest of June 2023.
